Jesus was inclusive, forgiving, and compassionate. It is unfortunate that many within the Christian community have distorted Jesus' message, leading to a version of faith that is divisive, judgmental, and intolerant. Parameters are set that define people as worthy or unworthy, “saved” or “unsaved”. In bringing God's radical grace and love into the world, Jesus rebelled against any religious or social conventions that placed people into acceptable and unacceptable categories. Inclusive Christianity reclaims the authentic voice of Jesus, unclouded by the prejudices placed upon him by others. Join R. Scott Thornton in this compelling and progressive look at faith. Embrace a life modeled and taught by Jesus, a path that will transform you into the person God intended.
This excellent book deserves a broad reading! Unless we bring R. Scott Thornton's kind of faith-filled intelligent response to our Scriptures and practice, I see little ability for Christianity to heal, transform, or unite our world. With this kind of wisdom, which is merely Jesus' wisdom, we can do just that!

What a perfect gift for a new Christian. We used to call such books “primers” – they were handbooks for a journey about to be undertaken, first groundings in a new area of experience, a self-help manual to take on a pilgrimage through life. Scott Thornton’s book is so practical and humane. He touches on the grandest and noblest themes of Christian faith without ever losing the common touch. He is a Doctor and, when I’d put his book down, I (a long-in the-tooth Christian) felt that he knew me inside out. I wish he were my physician as well as my theological companion!
